Bonjour! 👋
I’m excited to share something I’m passionate about. On Wednesday, December 11, I had the chance of visiting the new facilities of La Bouchée Généreuse in Limoilou/Vanier—and guess what? I had the chance to make a donation on your behalf. You might be wondering, “What’s this got to do with a walking tour?” Stick with me for a moment, and I’ll show you how every step on my tours does more than just explore Quebec City—it’s making a real difference.
2024
If you booked a tour with me in 2024, you might not have realized that a small part of your booking fee is helping out in a big way.
Here’s how it works: When you make a booking through my website, a portion of the booking fee goes towards maintaining the site and the booking system, but portion of every booking fee goes directly to La Bouchée Généreuse, a local organization supporting over 1,300 families every week in Québec. This incredible group provides food, clothing, and essential services to families in need. Thanks to travelers like you, we donated $4,000 to this amazing cause! So yes, those small amounts turn into something much bigger.
What is La Bouchée Généreuse?
La Bouchée Généreuse has been an hope for families in need for 28 years. They provide services like a food bank, a community grocery store, a thrift shop, and affordable optical care, offering essential help to over 1,300 families every week. But it’s more than just charity—it’s a place where lives are transformed.
Through food assistance, affordable essentials, and programs fostering social integration, La Bouchée Généreuse helps people regain stability and a sense of belonging. Supporting this cause means making a real, lasting impact in the community. And by joining me on these tours, you’re contributing to the continued success of this vital work.
Why Does It Matter to me?
Whether it’s a single parent, someone who’s just hit a rough patch, or someone new to the area, life can be unpredictable. A little help can go a long way, and sometimes you never know who around you might need it or needed it...
For me it matter
I grew up in a single-dad family with five kids. We didn’t always have it easy. But there were times when organizations similar to La Bouchée Généreuse stepped in to help. That’s why I’m so passionate about giving back. Now that I’m in a position to give back, I try to do the same. You never know who around us needs it or has had recourse to it.
Exploring Quebec City with Purpose
Let’s be honest—when you think of tourism, charity probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. You’re thinking Instagram, backpackers, and questionable souvenir purchases, right?I think tourism can actually do good. Quebec City is full of beauty, history, and hidden gems, and with every step you take on my tour, you’re not just discovering cool facts, history and photo spots—you’re also helping out a community that needs it.
It’s a win-win: You get to explore the stunning history and charm of Quebec City, laugh (or at least pretend to), and—surprise—you’re supporting families in Limoilou who really could use some help.
And just so we’re clear, this isn’t a “guilt trip” (see what I did there? Yeah another dad joke)—I’m all about the fun and jokes. Every little step we take together counts, and who knows? Maybe you’ll make a difference without even realizing it. If it can help even a tiny bit, I'm happy!
Merci
Thank you for being a part of my 2024 tours. It’s been an incredible year, and I’ve had the pleasure and the chance of meeting travelers from 38 countries, guiding nearly 300 tours, and (yes, my feet still hurt) making at least 4 people laugh (including my dad). I even managed to get myself featured on Good Morning America (which, let’s be honest, wasn’t exactly on my bingo card)—not bad for a local guide, right?
And even if you don’t laugh at all of my jokes (trust me, I’m used to it), just tell yourself, “Well, at least I did a good thing today!” Besides, you’re getting the full Quebec City experience—charming streets, hidden gems and history, and a tour guide who somehow still believes that dad jokes are funny.
So here’s to an even better 2025. And remember: Every step counts. If you plan your trip Ready to explore Quebec and make a difference?
